On pourrait facilement s’arrêter devant le nom apocalyptique du groupe et passer son chemin … persuadé de s’engager dans une ruelle volontairement mal éclairée ou fatigué par avance du gros temps que cette météo nous promet. Pourtant, même si le trio le plus mancunien des faubourgs d’Hossegor s’engage effectivement pour la démocratisation des acouphènes, il serait beaucoup trop réducteur de les cataloguer dans les formations « trop bruyantes pour maman » (surtout si maman aime les mélodies dansantes des années 80, l’art contemporain, et l’énergie de fin du monde des années 90 …) Formé en 2017 dans les Landes par Magali, Quentin et Pierre-Johann, les membres de This Will Destroy Your Ears, tout à la fois chorégraphes, plasticiens, vidéastes et spécialistes de la prise murale encastrable, sont ce que l’on appelle désormais un groupe DIY. Sauf qu’ici, cette pratique n’est pas juste envisagée comme un anglicisme à la mode, mais comme une véritable marotte et chez eux tout y passe : amplis, instruments, communication, vidéos, ils ont même construit leur propre studio d’enregistrement : pARPAINg. Pour leur première tournée en mars 2018, ils décident de partir en Angleterre avec un Renault Master de 1981 - que les locaux renommeront tendrement « Georges » et qui sera le héros de leur première vidéo - pour comprendre, disent-ils, comment les anglais s'y sont pris pour ré-inventer autant de fois le rock&roll. Ils partagent dès lors la scène avec USA Nails, JOHN, Black Midi ou METZ et ne cesseront de faire des aller retours entre leur public anglais et français. En 2019, ils sortent leur premier album CLEAR enregistré en une semaine chez pARPAINg avec la complicité de Boris Lehachoir et Dorian Verdier (clavier chez JC SÀTAN) et mixé à Londres au Bear Bite Horses Studio de Wayne Adams sur les labels Cowboy À La Mode (FR) et Brutalist Records (UK).
 Après quelques confinements et un Maxi 45 tours de « mélangisme musical » À TOI À MOI  imaginé avec The Eurosuite (London), Naguals (Sheffield) et Shoefiti (Paris), ils sortent leur second album, EVERYBODY KNOWS MICKEY, le 18 novembre 2022 sur les labels français Cowboy À La Mode et À Tant Rêver Du Roi, et sur le label anglais Brutalist Records.
Enregistré une fois de plus dans leur studio pARPAINg, ils se sont entourés d’Henri d’Armancourt (Steve Amber, The Psychotic Monks) à la réalisation, d’Alex Greaves (Heavy Lungs, LICE, Ditz) au mixage,  et de Carl Saff (Bambara, Protomartyr, Fu Manchu) au mastering. Plus produit et abouti que son prédécesseur, on retrouve sur cet opus à la fois toute l’énergie du groupe en live et cet amour inconditionnel pour les mélodies qui les placent à un endroit où peu de monde ose s’aventurer. 
Parce que oui, This Will Destroy Your Ears aiment beaucoup les gens, ils ont juste tendance à leur dire beaucoup trop fort.

It might be easy to stop in front of this band’s apocalyptic name and walk on by... convinced that you’re entering a deliberately badly lit alley or already exhausted by the heavy weather forecast. However, even if this most Mancunian trio from the suburbs of Hossegor is indeed committed to the democratisation of tinnitus, it would be far too simplistic to classify them as a "too loud for Mum" band (especially if Mum likes the dancing melodies of the 80s, contemporary art, and the end-of-the-world energy of the 90s...) Formed in 2017 in the Landes region of south-west France by Magali, Quentin and Pierre-Johann, the members of This Will Destroy Your Ears, who are at once choreographers, visual artists, video makers and specialists in wall-mounted sockets, are what is now known as a DIY band. Except that in this case, this practice can’t be considered as just a trendy term, but as a true passion... everything is done by them: amps, instruments, communication, videos… they even built their own recording studio: pARPAINg. 
For their first tour in March 2018, they decided to go to England with a 1981 Renault Master - which the locals tenderly renamed "Georges" and which would go on to become the hero of their first video - to understand, as they say, how the English went about re-inventing rock & roll over and over again. They then shared the stage with USA Nails, JOHN, Black Midi or METZ and never stopped going back and forth between their English and French audiences. In 2019, they released their first album CLEAR, recorded in one week at pARPAINg with the help of Boris Lehachoir and Dorian Verdier (keyboard player at JC SÀTAN) and mixed in London at Wayne Adams' Bear Bite Horses Studio on Cowboy À La Mode (FR) and Brutalist Records (UK) labels. After a few confinements and the À TOI À MOI "musical blending" EP created with The Eurosuite (London), Naguals (Sheffield) and Shoefiti (Paris), they release their second album, EVERYBODY KNOWS MICKEY, on November 18, 2022 on French labels Cowboy À La Mode and À Tant Rêver Du Roi, and on English label Brutalist Records. 
Recorded once more at their pARPAINg studio, they are joined by Henri d'Armancourt (Steve Amber, The Psychotic Monks) for production, Alex Greaves (Heavy Lungs, LICE, Ditz) for mixing, and Carl Saff (Bambara, Protomartyr, Fu Manchu) for mastering. Even more polished and accomplished than its predecessor, we find with this release both the band's live energy and their unconditional love for melodies that place them somewhere few people dare to venture. Because yes, This Will Destroy Your Ears do love people a lot, they just tend to tell them way too loudly.
